Mount Rose Mount Rose Wilderness, Nevada |
August 26, 2015
After nearly two miles, we're little closer
Galena Creek Falls are spring-fed
Western Nevada's nicest waterfall (the state's best
offerings are in the Ruby Mountains)
Looking down the meadow
Looking up the steep trail
Into the wilderness
We'll be speaking with that guy later
At the summit, looking over at another viewing area
Heading over to the observation area
Mount Rose Ski Area from the wind shelter
Washoe Valley and what remains of Washoe Lake
Behind Lake Tahoe are Round Top, Thunder Mountain,
Mount Tallac, and Pyramid Peak
That's Reno-Sparks in the background
Jeff from Detroit takes our photo
Starting down in the fierce wind
Most of the rough stuff is behind us
The meadow is another 1,500 feet down
Gone, but not forgotten
That was the longest "mile" ever
Back at the falls
Optical illusion: the communications towers are a mile behind the rocks
Tamarack Lake never is seen from the highway
